A wing of beauty

WALKING through the wood this afternoon I spotted a butterfly wing lying on the path.

It was a few centimetres long, had a feathery texture and the colours shimmered in the sunlight.
I do not know if butterflies can grow back a wing or if that is the end of their time.

But being this close to nature is an incredible experience allowing you to watch the change in the seasons as well as a chance to spot a wide variety of animals.

Already I’ve seen a deer running through a field, an eagle at the side of the road as I drove by launching itself into the sky and lizards sunbathing in the afternoon heat.

I’ve seen rabbits scattering into the woods, wrens and robins flitting through the trees and found myself truly enjoying the feeling that I’m in a living environment.

Being in a city has its advantages, but I feel that it is sometimes necessary to take in the clear sky and hear the leaves falling from the trees.
