    Coralgeorgeluke_2About Coral Luke:
My name is Coral Luke, I was born in Brighton Sussex in 19**! I am married to George and we are both retired.

Well there is nothing new in retired people being in France, is there? But for me retirement means being busier than ever; just one thing that makes it a bit more difficult is that I am disabled.

My life changed over night in October 2000 when I had a stroke. I had worked full time, been a Guide Leader, swam four times a week, did aqua aerobics, evening classes in French and still managed to have a happy home life.

We had taken a holiday in the Morvan area of Burgundy that summer and had been investigating buying a house.

After my stroke that had to go on hold along with the rest of my life, more…

  • Is it the end of the café culture in Cote d’Or?

Following an investigation by France Boisson-Gira, it appears that the number of cafés in the Cote d’Or department is falling. • Stand up for the French loo

Had I been in the UK, the chances are that I would have been arrested – quite wrongly, I must stress – for indecent exposure, writes Peter Clayton.

But I was in fashionable Le Touquet, relieving myself in the fashionable unisex loos of a fashionable bar. Suddenly, the door swung open and in came the cleaning lady who started mopping between my feet as I stood, minding my own business, facing the urinal.

  • A green view of the gite business

Graeme Graziella SwanAS people become more aware of the impact their travel plans have on the environment, schemes have been introduced where you pay a small fee that goes towards a sustainable project.

  • Use the news to help your language skills

Rfi_radioI AM a big fan of listening to and watching the news to improve your French, as well as to keep you in touch with what is going on in the country and further a field.

It is also useful for when you want to learn how to compose questions and answer others, although quiz shows are good for this as well, and ten minutes or so every day will really help.

  • Change ahead for Sarkozy and France

SO as France wakes up with Nicolas Sarkozy set to take the presidential suite in the Élysée Palace, what next for the country?

Supporters of the right will be nursing a sore head after a night of celebration, whilst those on the left may have spent the evening drowning their sorrows.

But in Sarkozy’s words with France ready “to turn a new page” in its history and Ségolène Royal believing that “something has risen up that will not stop” there is hope that new thoughts and ideas will bring change.

Dord_prop0701_1UNLESS you have experience in property and construction there is a good chance you are going to have to call upon the services of a builder or artisan.
