Holiday home website checks

site_img2608AS the summer season comes to an end maybe your thoughts are already turning to next year and ways to promote your holiday home website.

What is important is to make sure that your site is looking its best before attracting people to it, so now is a good time to take a look around your pages.

If you have a section with prices on make sure they are up to date and tally with the rates you intend to charge next year.

The same should be done with your calendar of available dates, especially if people have already booked for next year.

Also if you have had some good comments from guests that you can add to the site ask for permission to use them, as recommendations are a great addition to your site.

Plus if you have taken some new photographs of your gîte make sure they are presented on your site in the best possible light.

Your photographs need to be produced in a common format with a resolution of 72dpi, which is suitable for displaying on computer screens.

Also when using portrait style photographs aim to use them at around 150pixels wide by 230pixels deep with landscape photos at 310pixels by 180pixels.

And if you are using three or four pictures on one page image sizes should be reduced to around 200pixels x 150pixels.

It is better to have a few smaller pictures than one larger one where you are trying to cram in as much as you can.

If you provide links to local attractions or tourist board websites double check that they are going through to the correct page.

Other sites may change the location of certain website pages and it is up to you to check that they are still working.

Spending a couple of hours updating your site will ensure that potential customers have the best impression of your holiday home.
