It’s Telethon time

THE Telethon is a two-day charity event supported by television and radio across the whole of France.

The French Muscular Dystrophy Association (AFM) organised the first Telethon in 1987 to fund innovative research programs.telethon_pstr0612.jpg
Last year it raised a record 91.5 million euros and in Villefranche du Périgord they were doing their bit with a variety of money raising ideas to boost the appeal’s coffers.
Alongside the Saturday morning market were stalls selling roast chestnuts and freshly squeezed apple juice.
Whilst others were selling everything from cakes and pastries to paintings and Christmas decorations for the house and table.
The highlight of the day took place in the village hall where the villagers sat down to a lunch with local dignitaries and mayors from the surrounding hamlets.
And afterwards the children were given a tour of Villefranche du Périgord in a horse drawn carriage.
