High waters in Fumel

front_fuml0512.jpg
THE torrential rain that has hit the south east of France has fortunately not caused the same damage in the Dordogne and Lot regions.

In Fumel, which is 22km away from Villefranche du Périgord, the le Lot river runs through the town and it has caused minor damage.
The river is many feet higher than normal and some of the basements in the houses close to the water’s edge will have been flooded.
The source of the river is in the east towards the Massif Central so it will be taking much of the rainwater that fell in the mountains.
Fortunately the weather forecast for the weekend promises calm and mild weather, with little chance of rain.
Pictures of the flooded river can be seen here.
