Hunting season in France

Redfrenchlifeblock03040_13WITH the arrival of autumn the French countryside will ‘welcome’ a visitor that can sometimes give you the fright of your life.

Weekends will see la chasse take to the woods and fields of France and they can often get a little too close for comfort.

I had a run in with a group of hunters as they tracked down a sanglier one morning when I had to take cover in a wood shed, close to the local boulangerie.

It is possible to ask the local hunting committee to require its members to steer clear of your property, although it means a lot of form filling and paperwork.
