MAKING sure you are properly registered for payment of income tax and other taxes such as taxe foncière is usually high up on the list of things to do.
Many of the Finance Ministry offices, the Trésor Public, will be able to offer a helping hand with the forms, some of the bigger offices even have English-speaking staff available some time during the week.
A page on the Service Public lets you track down the offices quickly and easily, as well as other services that may prove useful.
And for those people confident enough to try their hand at the online form provided by the Finance Ministry, which provides an estimate of tax to be paid, check out the Calcul de L’Impot 2007 page.

Please can you help with an explanation. We have been running chalet company for the past 4 years. We originally had an accountant do our french accounts for us but we felt was very expensive and we decided not to use him.
We have just recieved a demand from The Tresor Public for Taxe Proffesionelle. What is this tax? Can you explain to us or tell me where I can find out?
Hi Karen, the Taxe Professionelle is the equivalent of the UK’s business rates and is a revenue source for local authorities.
You are best speaking to a professional or drop in on the Tresor Public office closest to you to find out what you should be paying.
All the best
Craig
