Saturday market in Villefranche-du-Périgord

Market stalls in the village square
Early start at Villefranche-du-Périgord market

SATURDAY morning is market day in Villefranche-du-Périgord, when a handful of stalls offer local produce.

You will have your pick of seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as a chance to try local goats cheese and other locally made delights.

The market in Villefranche-du-Périgord opens around 9h and runs until lunchtime, and can be found in the main square under la Halle.

Bread, salad and local ratatouille

Opposite you will be able to enjoy a morning coffee outside in the summer months, and take a stroll along the main high street to the other shops in the village.

There you can pick up fresh bread, drop in on the two small supermarkets, or the pharmacy and at the other end of the village the post office and tabac.

In the summer months night markets are also on offer in this corner of the Dordogne, where you can again enjoy food and drink from local farms and producers.
